The Money Is In Your Relationship with Your List

Have you ever signed up to a mailing list only to receive email after email of promotions? Don’t you hate it when marketers email you constantly trying to sell you something but never actually give you anything useful?

There are a lot of marketers out there that do exactly that – bombard their subscribers with email after email constantly trying to sell them something. They don’t take the time to actually give their subscribers anything useful and certainly aren’t very personal in their approach.

I guess they make some money or they would no longer be doing it, but imagine how much more money they could make if they took that extra bit of time to build a relationship with their subscribers.

Personally, when I receive emails from a marketer, constantly trying to sell me something, I unsubscribe fast. I don’t want to be on a mailing list just to be used for making sales and making money.

If I am on a mailing list of a marketer that gives me good information and puts in that extra bit of time and effort to build a relationship, then this is the sort of mailing list that I will stay subscribed to.

Here are a few tips on how to build a relationship with your subscribers and ultimately run a better business.

1. Keep your subscribers interests in mind. Don’t spam your subscribers with every offer that you come across. Generally it is best not to promote any product to your subscribers unless you know the product and know that it is a genuinely good product.

2. Put yourself in your subscriber’s shoes. When you are creating an email to send to your subscribers try to put yourself in their shoes and think about whether your email is the type of email that you would like to receive. If you don’t like receiving spam then don’t send it to your subscribers.

3. Earn your subscribers trust. If your emails are informative and even a little personal, your subscribers will get to know you and trust you. By only ever promoting good, genuine products they will trust you.

If you start promoting rubbish and constantly throwing offers t them, then they will not trust you. Your subscribers are more likely to purchase a product that you recommend if they trust you.

4. Never lie to your subscribers because you never know, you might get caught out. This also relates to putting yourself in your subscriber’s shoes – I don’t think you would like to be lied to.

If you make a mistake, and let’s face it if you’re human you will from time to time, it is best to own up to it straight away rather than lie about it and try to cover it up. People are usually very understanding if you own up to any mistakes you make.

5. Give your subscribers some free reports, articles or ebooks from time to time. People like getting things for free and it is a great way to build up a good relationship with your subscribers.

Final Thoughts

A list of subscribers is one of the best tools an Internet Marketer can have but there is no point having a list of subscribers that don’t trust or like you. Build a good relationship with your subscribers and you will have a happy list and a profitable list.
