Should You Offer a Free E-course to Build a List?

Another great way to build up your subscriber list is to offer a free e-course that they can receive via email after signing up. A free e-course will not work for all niches but there are many niches where it can work very well.

With a good autoresponder service you will be able to set up emails to be delivered at certain times. So if you offer an e-course you can set up your autoresponder to deliver a new email once a day, every second day or once a week.

For example, if you offer a 10 part e-course you could set up your autoresponder to deliver one part every week so your e-course will run over 10 weeks. Or another example could be if you offer a 14 part e-course you could set up your autoresponder to deliver one part every day for two weeks.

When a person signs up to your mailing list for your e-course they are giving you permission to send them emails. As well as sending them the e-course you can also send them broadcast emails from time to time giving them information and recommended products related to your niche.

Once the e-course is complete you could continue to send them newsletter emails giving them information and advice. This helps to build up a relationship and many of your subscribers will remain subscribed.

Promoting Products with Your E-Course

Throughout your e-course you might want to recommend products that can benefit your subscribers. These could be your own products or affiliate products. Just be careful not to appear too ‘salesy’ as you don’t your subscribers to feel that the e-course is nothing but a big sales pitch.

When you recommend products during your e-course always be subtle and only recommend products that really will benefit your subscriber. Also make sure that the products you recommend are related to your niche and also to the particular topic of the e-course.

Use a Good Autoresponder Service

When using an autoresponder to set up delivery of your e-course I don’t recommend using a free service. Free services can be very unreliable and you may also find that many of them include their own advertising in your emails and that can lead to many subscribers unsubscribing.

A good autoresponder service like Aweber or Getresponse are very reliable and you don’t have to put up with their advertising. Both of these services are very good and you shouldn’t have any issues with either of them.

Conclusion

Offering an e-course is a great way to build your subscriber list and also a great way to build up a good relationship with your subscribers. You don’t need anything big and fancy for your e-course, something simple will work just fine. Start building your mailing list today by offering your visitors an e-course.
