How to Build a List of Subscribers

If you have an online business then you should be building a list of subscribers. It doesn’t matter what niche you are in, if you can build a good list of subscribers then those subscribers are all potential customers that you can market your product to.

One of the most effective methods for building a list of subscribers is to offer something free in exchange for the person signing up to your mailing list.

We need something to give away!

What do you have that your website visitors would happily sign up to your mailing list to get hold of a copy? It’s a bit like dangling a carrot in front of a donkey; you need something that you can dangle in front of your visitors so that they will jump in and put their name on your list.
Let’s use the weight loss niche as an example.

If you have a website in the weight loss niche then visitors to your site are obviously looking for an easy way to lose weight. So what can you give them? You could offer your visitors a report of some sort relating to weight loss, such as a compilation of low fat recipes, an exercise program or a report about how you yourself lost weight.

The fact that your visitors can get their hands on your report free, many of them will jump at the chance and sign up to your mailing list to get your report.

Having an opt in box on your website

You will need an optin box on your website so that your visitors have somewhere to enter their details. You can sign up to an autoresponder company such as Getresponse or Aweber and then create your optin box following their instructions and then add it to your website.

Autoresponders do have a monthly cost but the cost is worth it if it can bring you just one or two sales a month from your subscribers.

You can either set up your optin box on a squeeze page where you have just one page specifically created for capturing subscribers or you can simply add your optin box onto your website or blog. If you are adding the optin box to your blog you should have it in a spot that will receive most exposure.

Don’t let sales slip away
